10 years ago today in an era of bulky camcorders and video tapes, I reached the summit of the worlds most iconic and jaw-droppingly beautiful mountains - The Matterhorn.
At 4,478m it’s the very symbol of the Alps yet one of the deadliest. To stand on the summit with two of the best humans I know - Alex Green and Joe Kenny - was pure bliss and is certainly one of my life’s greatest achievements and the pinnacle of the ‘Magic Bus Adventures’. Not only that but to fly the Rowley flag high and meet my Dad back in Zermatt 17hrs later that evening, who himself has had numerous attempts, was a moment to be proud. Not bad for 20 year old kid who 5 years earlier gazed over to the Matterhorn from the summit of Mont Blanc dreaming for more.
